The organising committee of the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games has signed five strategic partners for the event, which takes place in Riyadh from December 11 to 21. Hilton Group, NOVA, Xingpai, Energia and Flags Entertainment have all joined the Games in the run-up to the December start.
The Games, known as AIMAG, are held every four years and bring together more than 4,500 athletes from across Asia in a range of indoor and martial arts disciplines. The Riyadh edition will host competitors from 45 National Olympic Committees, with 18 sports and 122 events on the programme in the Saudi capital. Saudi Arabia places the event within its national sporting strategy under Vision 2030, alongside a growing list of international competitions the kingdom has hosted in recent years. The five companies were announced as the countdown to the December start continues, and the organisers said the agreements are intended to improve the experience for athletes and guests.
Hilton Group becomes the official hospitality partner and will house delegations and athletes at its Riyadh properties during the Games. The group operates 27 hotels in Saudi Arabia and has another 91 in development, and the agreement is presented as support for the hospitality targets set under Vision 2030. NOVA has been named official water partner and will provide drinking water for athletes and spectators across all 122 events, from the opening day through to the final sessions on December 21.
Energia, which has worked with a number of Saudi sporting events, comes in as official energy partner and will power the venues and guest facilities in Riyadh. Xingpai Snooker has been appointed official global billiards partner and will supply facilities and playing equipment for young snooker players from across Asia. Flags Entertainment joins as an official partner focused on the wider guest experience and will represent Saudi hospitality at each venue during the Games.
Moneerah Al-Sudairy, chief executive of the 6th AIMAG, said the agreements marked an important milestone in the organising committee’s preparations. She said organisers intend to apply “the highest global standards” so that athletes, teams and spectators have an exceptional experience in Riyadh. Her comments came as the committee confirmed the roles each company will take on, from accommodation and water supply to power and venue hospitality. The partnership announcement comes with just over two months remaining before the opening of the Games in the Saudi capital.
